Blog EntryThe MacBook AirJan 15, '08 8:52 PM
for everyone
It's like Macbook Pro+Razr or something.

I'll just let the pictures do the talking

Boo!:
-Internal, non-user replaceable battery
-no bundled superdrive/cd/dvd drive (external, optional)*
-micro-DVI output can only display on (up to) 24-inch monitors
-the only supposedly input will be the single usb port. duh.
-no RJ-45 port. (no ethernet! optional usb adapter, 20-something dollars)

*The latest Apple hoo-ha is the Remote Disc. One has to carry around CD/DVDs and expect another person or place to have a MAC/PC with a CD/DVD drive, stick one's optical media into that drive and wait for it to wirelessly sync with the MacBook Air. Provided that the host machine IS enabled for wireless communication over compatible protocols (wireless-n or bluetooth). The hassle.

and lastly. $1800! and that's the base model, get all available, internal options (1.8GHz processor, 64GB SSD) and that's +$1000 more! For a grand total of $3,098.

complete specs
  • 1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4MB shared L2 cache
Option: 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
  • 2GB memory
  • 80GB
    Parallel ATA, 4200 rpm
    Option: 64GB solid-state drive
  • Built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
  • 3.0 pounds (1.36 kg)
  • 0.16 to 0.76 x 12.8 x 8.94 inches
    (0.4 to 1.94 x 32.5 x 22.7 cm)
  • Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor with 144MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory4
  • Option: External MacBook Air USB SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
More from MacWorld:
The Time Capsule. Uhm. It's a Network Area Storage device (NAS). that's wireless. k.

it's big too.

Iphone/Ipod Touch 1.1.3 Firmware update

and some others.

From Apple

Blog EntryNew IpodsSep 5, '07 6:55 PM
for everyone
Not too excited about these ones, i guess Apple just gave in to demand for these, but came up short. I call them freak Ipods. Click on the pics for more info

Fat Ipod?
First off is the fat nano, widened because of the new wide video screen integrated. I guess this is also the first time leaked news was true since pics of this particular ipod surfaced a couple of months ago. Coming in at 4GB and 8GB, I don't think thats much of a turn on with people wanting to watch videos, unless you watch an episode at a time or just have a couple of videos on their Ipod. (4GB, silver: $149; 8GB, silver, black, blue, green, red: $199).

Touch
Next is the new Ipod Touch. It's a freak Iphone. Actually an Iphone without the phone part. That's it. Wifi, 3.5" touch screen, landscape and portrait orientation. Comes in 8 and 16 GB. (8GB $299; 16GB $399)

hay nako. sa wakas. anyway, features:

-OSX (widgets, apps, etc.)
-full multi-touch interface
-8GB / 4GB
-2megapixel cam
-videos, music, pictures (basically the newest video ipod)
-POP3 and IMAP
-Auto-Engage WiFi
-Bluetooth EDR and A2DP comes with headset
-Safari (full HTML)
-3.5in screen
-Quad Band
-EDGE
-
5 hours of battery life for talk or video, 16 for music mode.

misc
-new ipod-like earphones with answer/drop call button
-surface proximity sensor (just like on the Canon 400D, it senses if your face is near so you dont operate the interface with your cheeks or ear. lol)
-accelerometer, ambient light sensor (for screen orientation and backlight intensity)
-Google Earth
-Yahoo! Push Email
-full qwerty keyboard apparently

downside:
-have to use it as a phone.
-no wireless sync to PC
-cant download from iTunes store (like we can here in the Philippines anyway. not)

dami pa. hehe. the coolest spec is the multi-touch interface, so pwedeng magdrag and much even better, it enables you to use several digits/fingers to operate the software (no stylus). for example, you're viewing a picture and you want to zoom out...what do you do? you touch the edges of the pic and pinch it to resize. as in kurutin. hehe. neat? sweet!

anyway. asa pa na dadating dito in the near future. $499 and $599 for 2-year contracts with Cingular. Apparently they had to restructure their...infrastructure a bit to accomodate the iPhone's features. For example, it arranges text messages by sender/recipient just like email and gives you a visual list of your voicemail inbox.

more on here here and of course http://www.apple.com

from engadget and time.

edit:
not much of a challenge spec-side, pero they released a pure touch-screen screen phone din, the OpenMoko hanep sa pangalan.

la lang. hehe

from here

So Apple just recently concluded their Showtime event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco.

So im gonna skip the talk and show the latest gadgets!

iPod Nano
-upto 8GB capacity
-now in different colors!
-anodized aluminum reminiscent of the mini

iPod Shuffle
holy small mp3 player batman! it looks like a regular iPod FM transmitter haha
-basically a nano (in shape, just chopped), same anodized aluminum finish, silver only
-includes dock
-1GB only
-nifty clip feature

iPod Video 5.5G
nothing much new here, still looks the same.
-upto 80GB
-still comes in black and white
-apparently can now play .mov (compared to converting it to .m4v)
-all iPods with displays now come with brighter screens, longer battery life and cheaper(?) prices
-comes with new Yahoo-ish games! Texas Hold-em Poker, Bejeweled, Zuma, PACMAN! hehe
-still no FM

iTunes 7
needed for all new iPods, free download anyway
-Movie downloads
-still 99c songs (pero wala pa rin sa Philippines)

aaand...iTV
now you can watch the videos you download on your TV!
yun lang. di pa released eh hehe.
