SE's coming up with a new line, independent from their other phones and by the looks of it is produced by HTC. I think this collaboration will do just fine, meshing smartphone, looks, and overall mobile experience. Without further ado: The X1 Sounds like a sonic jet or something. I wouldn't call it the iPhone killer yet, but I think it will stand up to it. On paper it already does look like it's doing a good job. Checkitout homes:
Key features: High quality video recording and playback VGA 30fps Web feeds Touch screen user interface Multiple input and navigation: Touch, QWERTY, Optical Joystick, 4-way key Windows® Mobile® Operating System with Outlook Mobile and Office Mobile 3.2 megapixel camera aGPS Handwriting recognition
Who doesnt want 3G, a full qwerty keyboard, 3.2 megapixels? Well iPhone users don't seem to. I even bet it's unlocked. hee. I smell WinMo vs. OSX
Anyway, who am I to talk about this, I don't have a smartphone, haven't touched one, and am dirt poor. Somebody pay me for my hyped previews!
Boo!: -Internal, non-user replaceable battery -no bundled superdrive/cd/dvd drive (external, optional)* -micro-DVI output can only display on (up to) 24-inch monitors -the only supposedly input will be the single usb port. duh. -no RJ-45 port. (no ethernet! optional usb adapter, 20-something dollars)
*The latest Apple hoo-ha is the Remote Disc. One has to carry around CD/DVDs and expect another person or place to have a MAC/PC with a CD/DVD drive, stick one's optical media into that drive and wait for it to wirelessly sync with the MacBook Air. Provided that the host machine IS enabled for wireless communication over compatible protocols (wireless-n or bluetooth). The hassle.
and lastly. $1800! and that's the base model, get all available, internal options (1.8GHz processor, 64GB SSD) and that's +$1000 more! For a grand total of $3,098.

Rally champion Colin McRae dies with son in helicopter crash
Tom Gordon
THE former rally driving champion Colin McRae was killed and his five year-old son feared dead in a helicopter crash yesterday afternoon. The aircraft came down in Jerviswood, Lanarkshire, half a mile from the family's home and burst into flames just after 4pm.
Jean-Eric Freudiger, McRae's agent, said the 39-year-old driver had been piloting the helicopter himself. Also on board were believed to be his son Johnny, another adult - said by locals to be a school friend of McRae - and another child. McRae's wife Alison and their daughter Hollie, 9, were not on board, friends said.
Strathclyde police said in a statement: "Four people were onboard the helicopter," adding "The bodies were found within the helicopter which is owned by Mr Colin McRae of Jerviswood House, Lanark. It is believed he was onboard the helicopter."
McRae became Britain's first World Rally champion in 1995. He was one of the country's most successful sportsmen, achieving 25 wins in World Rally events and 42 podium places. He was a flamboyant driver, inspiring one the world's best-selling computer rally games.
The helicopter came down within half a mile of McRae's 16th-century home, which has an adjacent helipad. The weather had been overcast, with southwesterly winds gusting to 30 knots and good visibility.
Officers with dogs and torches continued to comb the woodland near the crash into the night.
McRae's wife, a childhood sweetheart and his former co-driver, was taken back to the house under police escort shortly after 6pm.
McRae's friend the rally journalist Jeremy Hart, who flew with him several times, described him as a "very good, very measured pilot".
"Colin regularly flew all over the UK and into Europe," said Hart. "He knew the terrain and conditions at Jerviswood very well.
"As a sportsman he was a true hero. As a driver Colin was misunderstood slightly as being reckless but everything you saw with him came from pure raw talent as opposed to being learnt. He was the Michael Schumacher of rally driving.
"It's so ironic that he should die in a helicopter crash when he had competed and had brushed with death so many times as a rally driver."
Not too excited about these ones, i guess Apple just gave in to demand for these, but came up short. I call them freak Ipods. Click on the pics for more info
Fat Ipod? First off is the fat nano, widened because of the new wide video screen integrated. I guess this is also the first time leaked news was true since pics of this particular ipod surfaced a couple of months ago. Coming in at 4GB and 8GB, I don't think thats much of a turn on with people wanting to watch videos, unless you watch an episode at a time or just have a couple of videos on their Ipod. (4GB, silver: $149; 8GB, silver, black, blue, green, red: $199).
Touch Next is the new Ipod Touch. It's a freak Iphone. Actually an Iphone without the phone part. That's it. Wifi, 3.5" touch screen, landscape and portrait orientation. Comes in 8 and 16 GB. (8GB $299; 16GB $399)
So I was reading my favorite newspaper (ehem) PDI. Well ok actually my sister was.
So here's your normal page...but whats that on the top left?
Wait what?
WTF
Here's some text if you really wanna read it. But anyway it was actually informative (if it were true), revealing some major mistakes in publications used for public schools and such. How would you be surprised if your 5th grader asks you for help on vocabulary words and they'd have to see these. Maybe later on, but caman 5th grade? Wrong timing? I didnt finish reading though because the text was mad long (wtf one whole page) but to the dude who did this, way to go, I hope you're right.
I recently got a chance to get a better score by being on leave for 5 days this past weekend, with the craziest itenerary I've ever been on. Roxas-Iloilo-Cebu-Bohol-Cebu. Im a zombie. Well I hope to get a better grade before the year ends!

I guess its not much of a big thing but some of you might have noticed that embedded youtube videos (that is, youtube videos on sites other than the main youtube site) have a new interface.
Wow anliit nung pic. Anyway, there's nothing new at first glance except for a "Menu"-labeled button replacing the View original video size and Full screen toggle.
Err I should take better screenshots next time. The newest thing is when you roll your mouse over the video itself. On the sides appear a couple of toggles to scroll through related videos and on the bottom is a Mac OSX-style dock where you get a visual of the same related videos you can scroll through. Clicking on them thumbnails loads the appropriate vid and voila you get to watch other videos without having to leave the same page or even refreshing it. You can also rate the other videos from this interface with the same 5-star scale as was previously featured in the older interface. (more on this in a while)
Clicking on the Menu button takes you to where embed and the main video URLs are and you can hotlink right there and then if you're so curious & you like the vid a lot and you want to embed it in your own site or share the vid among friends (or foes). And the best(?) thing is that you're still on the same page! The magnifying dock and video scroller can still be used while in this state I call the..."MENU MODE!" ah ah ah ah (insert thunder and lighting)
On the main Youtube site side of things though (check out the vid above too...is nice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISw4Q-z1uPQ) nothing much has changed except for the "Who's viewing this video" box right above the Related videos list. Other things might pop up too as Youtube has this constant state of change thing going on.
Soo....what do I think about this?
While the visuals and awesome features might be nice, there isn't really a big use for them and it might even prove to be detrimental to the main site's performance in terms of pageviews. First off, the user just stays at the page where the video is embedded which means more airtime for ads (if ever there are) that are on that site's page. It's really weird and I can't imagine how Google plans to make money out of this vehicle, as there are no ads whatsoever in the main Youtube pages and there are no paid services within the site. Lalo pa sila mababawasan ng pageviews. Anyone care to enlighten me on how profit may arise from this model?
Anyway, next, holy server load batman! The related videos are also cool if you have time to spare to watch other vids besides the one you were interested in, but with this interface, each click on the scroller initiates the video to load at once (as opposed to clicking the "Play now" button) which means that this'll piss off network admins and I'm sure there'll be a jump in bandwidth usage if say 10 persons open one site with an embedded video all at once. (Uh...wait I dont view vids at the office...honest!)
Lastly, why? Was there really a need for this? Or was there a need for somebody to tell people to go work on something because the old one's getting pretty old-er? Which reminds me. I have to go work on something myself. Hehe.
